Green jacket winners! The foursome of Brett Petrie, left, David Shackleton, Paul Shackleton and Mike Glover won the 2026 St. Marys Lincolns golf tournament with a sizzling score of 14-under-par June 20 at River Valley Golf and Country Club. The winning team had 10 birdies and two eagles during their stellar round. A full field of 36 teams took part in this year’s Lincs’ fundraiser.

The foursome of Mike Glover, Brett Petrie, David Shackleton and Paul Shackleton earned the green jackets as the winners of the annual golf tournament hosted by the St. Marys Lincolns at River Valley Golf and Country Club.
The winning group’s strong performance included a pair of eagles and 10 birdies en route to a 14-under-par score to take the tournament’s top spot. Team captain Mike Glover told the Independent the team hit their stride after a somewhat average start to their round.
“We started off slow with four pars, but then we went on a bit of a heater with a birdie or eagle on the next nine holes to put us in a pretty good spot,” Glover said. “It gives the group confidence for sure (when you get on such a heater). If one guy makes a mistake, there was no panic as it seemed one of us was going to hit the shot we needed. It frees up the swing a little and makes the game quite fun. A few cold ones perhaps settled us in after a slow start.”
Glover cited clutch contributions from all four team members as helping lift the team to victory.
“Our putting was real solid; we hit three or four that we likely didn’t have any business making but generally, those are the breaks you need. Paul (Shackleton)’s putting all day was fun to watch. Off the tee, we were able to get ourselves in pretty great shape on the par-fours and made it pretty easy to score on those.
“Brett (Petrie) had some unbelievable shots,” Glover continued. “On number one, we needed an eagle, and he put us in the middle of the fairway and then hit a five-iron and stuck it to a couple of feet for an easy putt. On two, we didn’t have a great tee shot that left us with 30 or so feet, but Dave (Shackleton) drained that. Again, on nine, Brett came up big. He drove the green and then Paul (Shackleton) hit a ridiculous 45-plus foot putt for eagle.”
Following the tournament, the Lincolns’ Alumni Group Recognition Trophy was presented to Jamie Hahn. Currently, the public address announcer at the Lincolns’ games, Hahn has served in a variety of different roles in his 60 years involved with the Lincolns.
It is the fourth year the Lincolns’ Alumni Group has presented the award to someone who has made a significant contribution to the Lincolns as a volunteer or off-ice member of the team. Past winners include Pat Payton, Rob Mossey and Mike Bannerman.
The team of Josh Becker, Peter Hughes, Mark Monteith and Mark Ross finished second in the tournament, scoring 12-under-par. Becker also won the men’s closest to the pin prize, with Mary Jane Marcaccio winning the prize on the women’s side.
The men’s longest drive was won by Frasier Lewis, while Sandy Fifield had the women’s longest drive. The winners of the putting contest were Ray Cousineau, Anna Doupe, Emmett Doupe and Jeff Doupe.
This year, the St. Marys Lincolns’ Alumni Recognition Trophy went to Jamie Hahn, second from left. The presentation was made June 20 following the Lincs’ annual golf tournament. Hahn, who is currently the Lincolns’ public address announcer, has been a member of the Lincs’ organization for about 60 years.
