Jamie Hahn has been involved with the Lincs for about 60 years

A man who has served in a variety of roles for St. Marys Lincolns for about 60 years was specially honoured on June 20 at River Valley Golf and Country Club.
Following the team’s annual golf tournament, Jamie Hahn was presented with the Lincs Alumni Group’s Recognition Trophy.
“To win this Recognition Trophy Award was gratifying,” Hahn said. “I am privileged to be honoured and it’s special. Community service must be in my D.N.A. I have continued the volunteer opportunity with the Lincolns right up until today.”
Hahn has worn many hats with the Lincolns over the past six decades.
He joined the team’s executive in the late 1960s, and was treasurer for 12 consecutive years. He served in that role when the Lincs captured the Sutherland Cup title back in the spring of 1976.
Currently, Hahn has spent the past 25 years as public address announcer at Lincolns’ home games. He also serves as master of ceremonies at many team functions, including the Lincs’ award banquets, Alumni events and the team’s fundraising golf tournaments.
Hahn has been a life-long volunteer in the Stonetown . . . just look at his resume.
He was elected to town council in 1978 and served 13 years as a town councillor. After that, he spent a total of 16 years as mayor. Add those two totals together, and he served the citizens of St. Marys for almost three decades.
“I have proudly supported the St. Marys Legion, Branch 236, as a member and volunteer for 54 consecutive years,” Hahn says.
“Volunteers aren’t paid, not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless,” he continued. “I am a compassionate advocate for the town of St. Marys. Without volunteers, the town wouldn’t be ‘The Town Worth Living In.’”
Today, Jamie Hahn says the Lincolns are in “great hands” and trending in the right direction.
“The current Lincolns’ spirit, the heart and desire, and the talent they have had for the last 10 years, we are the envy of most Jr. ‘B’ teams in the province,” Hahn proudly says. “The new hip management is terrific. They have gotten the Lincolns over the hump. We are in such good shape in every area.”
It’s the fourth year the Lincolns’ Alumni Group has presented the award to someone who has made a significant contribution to the Lincolns as a volunteer or off-ice member of the team. Past winners include: Pat Payton, Mike Bannerman and Rob Mossey.
