Talk about a Lincoln presence!

A total of 16 former St. Marys Jr. ‘B’ Lincolns’ players are currently competing in the WOAA Senior ‘AA’ men’s hockey championship series.

Eight ex-Lincs are members of the Seaforth Centenaires: Calvin Penney, Brady Wiffen, Mike Siddall, captain Reuben Smith, Braydon Blight, Danny Bryan, Calvin Thomson and goalie Evan Morrison. Siddall is an assistant coach with the 2021-22 Lincolns.

Eight former Lincs are also on the Clinton Radars: Sean Consitt, Riley Coome, Paul Thompson, Josh Cornelissen, Tyler Bryson, Steven Shipley, Dalton Smith and goalie Greg Dodds. Consitt is team captain.

Game 1 in the best-of-seven final was this past Saturday in Seaforth, and Centenaires claimed a 1-0 victory. A second-period goal by Liam Melady stood up as the winner, and Alex Hutcheson earned the shutout.

“It’s going to be a good series,” Reuben Smith told the Independent. “It’s quite the St. Marys crowd that comes to the games,” he added with a laugh.

Game 2 is this Friday, March 25 in Clinton at 8:30 p.m. Game 3 is Saturday, March 26 in Seaforth at 7:30 p.m.

Note: Seaforth and Clinton met just once in the regular schedule, with Centenaires winning 4-1.
