St. Marys Lincolns just got deeper for the stretch run.
Last weekend, Lincsโ Director of Hockey Operations/GM Greg Smale announced that he has signed free agent forward Spencer Hazell.
A 20-year-old Western University student, Hazell played two full seasons (2018-20) for Georgetown Raiders of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL). He sat out last year when no Junior League in the province operated due to Covid-19. A left shot, heโs listed at 6 ft., 2 inches and 185 lbs.
โAll the paperwork is done,โ Smale told the Independent. โSpencer hasnโt played competitive hockey this year, but heโs a big body. He can play wing or centre, and heโs a good face-off guy.โ
Hazell was an eighth-round pick of the OHLโs Owen Sound Attack in 2017.
โTeams obviously saw something in the kid,โ the GM continued. โWith Covid going on, heโs a really good addition for us at this time and weโre excited to have him. He adds to that organizational depth that weโve tried to build on all season. Heโs another really good piece to the puzzle.โ
The signing of Hazell brings the Lincolns’ roster to 24 players.
